Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find answers to the questions our patients ask us most frequently about hair transplant in Turkey.

What is a hair transplant?

A hair transplant is a surgical procedure that serves to permanently restore hair lost due to various causes such as genetic factors, hormonal changes, stress, illness, or medication.

Hair follicles from the back of the head, which are resistant to hereditary hair loss, are transplanted into the bald or thinning areas. The results are permanent.

For whom is a hair transplant suitable?

A hair transplant is suitable for anyone suffering from hereditary hair loss, thinning hair, or a receding hairline. The most important criteria are that there is a sufficient number of healthy hair follicles in the donor area and that the general health is suitable for the procedure.

People with blood clotting disorders, uncontrolled diabetes, and severe heart disease are not suitable candidates for hair transplant surgery.

What is the difference between FUE and DHI techniques?

The two most popular hair transplant techniques are FUE (Follicular Unit Excision) and DHI (Direct Hair Implantation). With both techniques, the hair follicles are removed individually from the donor area using the FUE method. The difference becomes apparent during the transplant of the hair follicles.

The hair follicles extracted using the FUE technique are stored in a nutrient solution and individually inserted into the channels opened in the recipient area. With the DHI technique, the extracted hair follicles are placed into a device called the Choi Implanter Pen and directly transplanted into the scalp.

Both techniques offer successful and lasting results. The technique that is best suited for you will be decided after consultation with your specialist, taking into account your hair structure, the severity of your hair loss, and your goals.

Is there an age limit for hair transplants?

There is no fixed age limit for hair transplants, but the ideal age is usually between 25 and 60. Factors such as the condition of the donor area, the severity of hair loss, and overall health are more important than age. For this reason, each patient’s condition is assessed individually.

How much does a hair transplant in Turkey cost?

Turkey is a global leader in hair transplants, and the prices for hair transplants are very competitive compared to many other countries. The costs vary between €1,500 and €2,500, depending on various factors such as the number of grafts, the technique used, and additional services (hotel, VIP transfer, care products, medication, etc.).

At Medidora, we value complete transparency. We offer all-inclusive packages and fixed price guarantees for all our treatments. There are no hidden or additional costs.

How long does a hair transplant take?

The treatment usually takes between 4 and 8 hours, depending on the number of grafts required, the technique used, and the experience of the team.

Is a hair transplant painful?

You will not feel any pain or discomfort during the hair transplant under local anesthesia. However, the administration of local anesthetics may cause a slight stinging and burning sensation.

Do I have to stay in the hospital after the procedure?

No. The hair transplant is an outpatient procedure. A hospital stay is not necessary. After the procedure, you can return to your hotel the same day.

How many grafts do I need?

The number of grafts required varies from person to person, depending on the extent of hair loss, hair structure and the condition of the donor area. To find out exactly how many grafts you need, you can request a free hair analysis.

How long does recovery take after a hair transplant?

Recovery varies from person to person, but usually takes 1–2 weeks. During this period, the redness disappears, the crusts fall off, the swelling subsides, and the treated area looks more natural again.

How important is aftercare following a hair transplant?

Care after a hair transplant is extremely important. To ensure that the transplanted hair follicles are not damaged and grow healthily, careful aftercare must be provided following treatment. Our experienced team will provide you with all the necessary information.

Is recovery after a hair transplant painful?

After the hair transplant, you may experience slight pain, tension, and sensitivity in the transplanted area, but these symptoms can be easily relieved with simple painkillers.

When can I go out in the sun again after a hair transplant?

The first few weeks after the hair transplant are a time when the hair roots are most sensitive and crust formation continues. During this time, it is extremely important to stay indoors and protect the area where the hair transplant was performed from direct sunlight. If you have to go outside, you should wear a loose, soft hat that doesn’t put pressure on your hair.

Is a hair transplant permanent?

Yes. The results of a hair transplant are permanent. The reason for this is that the hair follicles used for the transplant are taken from the neck area, which is resistant to hereditary hair loss. However, it is very important to follow the aftercare instructions for lasting and successful results.

How long does it take for the results to become visible?

The results of a hair transplant become apparent over time. The transplanted hair usually begins to grow from the third month onwards. The first hairs may be thin, but over time they will become thicker and stronger. From the sixth month onwards, a significant increase in hair density can be observed. The final results will be visible within 12 to 15 months.

Does the transplanted hair look natural?

Yes. When a hair transplant is performed using the right technique and by an experienced team, the results look extremely natural.
